What is the purpose of this project?
The goal of this project is to collect high-quality audio samples of natural, unscripted conversations between two or more native speakers. These recordings may be used for research, to help train voice-based technologies, or for similar non-commercial purposes.
Who can participate?
Anyone who:
- Meets the required minimum age (typically 18 years or older),
- Has clear speech in their native language,
- Has access to a quiet environment, and
- Agrees to the guidelines and consent terms.
No professional background or interpreter training is required.
Is there a deadline for this project?
As the project is ongoing, deadlines and/or what language(s) we are currently accepting may change at any time. Changes to our Active Language(s) will be communicated via email, and we'll update our Latest Updates page.
It is your responsibility to check our Latest Updates page before recording.
What happens after I record?
After you submit your recording(s), they go through a series of Quality Assurance (QA) checks, are given a Status Flag (see below), and payment is issued for all Accepted recordings.
Status Flags:
-
Accepted: Payment has been issued.
-
Pending: Our Quality Team is still reviewing your recordings. Payment will be issued the month following the completion of the quality review.
-
Project Limit Exceeded: Participant exceed the recording limit for the project. See the Recording Limit article to learn more.
-
Rejected: Recording(s) didn't meet project requirements.
-
Specific reasons for why your recordings were rejected will not be provided. You can see our Rejection Categories to see common reasons and how to avoid them in the future.
-
💡Pro Tip: All recordings must complete our QA process. If there is a high volume of submissions, QA may take longer, which can delay payment. For example, an approved recording submitted on 31 July would be normally be eligible for payment in August. If QA is delayed and the recording is not given a Status Flag until 15 August, payment would be made in September.

Where can I get more details on the status of my Recordings?
The platform does not currently provide a live dashboard or tracking system for participants. We recommend keeping a personal log of your recordings, including the date, topic, and partner name.
After payments have been processed, you will receive an email with a breakdown of the percentage of your recording per Status Flag.
Our Service Desk team is not able to provide any additional details on your specific recordings.
