How do I access the recording platform?
You’ll receive a personal recording link after submitting the required forms. No software installation is needed.
Be sure the email address you enter in the Link Generator Form matches your Recruitment Form exactly. Mismatched or incorrect emails may disqualify your recording or delay payment.
How long should each session be?
Each conversation should be between 5 to 15 minutes in length. Submissions under 3 minutes will be rejected. Recordings between 3 and 5 minutes may be rejected if they don’t meet project requirements. Anything over 15 minutes may be capped at 15 minutes for payment or rejected. All approvals are at Jeenie’s discretion.
Do I have to keep my video on during the recording?
Video is not mandatory. However, we strongly encourage keeping your camera on during recordings, as this greatly increases the chances of your submissions being accepted.
While only the audio is used for the project, having your video turned on is important for quality assurance. It allows us to:
- Confirm that no children are involved in the recording
- Ensure you and your partner are not recording from the same room
- Verify that you are not using the same recording device
- Clearly see that there are two different people in the conversation
- Better identify who is speaking at any given time
You will also benefit from seeing your recording partner, since this helps conversations flow naturally and supports communication with non-verbal cues.
If on camera, dress appropriately:
You’ll be interacting with your recording partner in real time, so please dress appropriately.
Rest assured, your video will never be shared; it’s only used internally to ensure quality and authenticity.
How many recordings can I make?
This is a self-paced project. You can record as many sessions as you like, provided:
- You and your partner have both signed up.
- Each session uses an approved topic.
- Recordings are done in your native language.
To record more sessions, simply generate a new link using the setup form.
Can I record by myself?
No. This project is based on capturing natural interactions, so at least two participants are required for each recording session.
Can I reuse links?
No. All recordings must have a unique link. If you reuse a link, only one recording will be saved. Please generate a new link if you want to record again.
My partner and I completed all the topics. What now?
Great work! Once you've completed all the topics with one partner, you're encouraged to keep recording new conversations. You may repeat a topic with the same speaking partner, as long as the conversation itself is different.
You can also choose to team up with a new speaking partner and record fresh conversations on the same list of topics. Your original partner is also welcome to do the same with someone new.
Please be sure to follow the same guidelines when bringing a new speaker onboard. See here for details.
Can multiple people record using the same link or device?
No, each participant must use their own individual recording link device and equipment, even if you're in the same location.
Each person needs to connect to the session using their own unique recording link on a separate device. This ensures clear audio, proper tracking, and eligibility for payment.
You can be in the same general location (like the same house), but:
- You should not be in the same room during the recording.
- Each person must use their own link and device.
- Make sure you're in separate, quiet rooms to avoid echo, audio feedback, or overlapping sound.
Sharing a device or being too close together can result in poor audio quality, which may cause the recording to be rejected.
What happens if I use someone else's link?
You will only be paid for accepted recordings done under the link generated for you. If you use someone else's link, you will not be paid for the recording. Jeenie is unable to change what email address is attached to a link. If you don't have a link, you will need to resubmit the form to generate a link.
Can I send my recording link to someone else?
No. The links are unique to you. If you need a new partner, please fill out the form again to generate a new link for you and your partner.
What happens if I generate a link but don’t use it?
No problem! If you generate a link and no longer need it or you need to switch out your partner, just go back to the form and provide the required details to generate a new recording link. There is no limit to how many links you can generate.
