How do I avoid Rejected recordings?
My past recordings were accepted, but now new ones are being rejected. I didn’t change anything. Why is this happening?
Where can I get more details on Rejected recording(s)?
After payments have been processed, you will receive an email with a breakdown of the percentage of your recording that were Accepted and Rejected. Rejected recordings are broken down by a Rejection Category.
Our Service Desk team is not able to provide any additional details on your specific recordings. They can only provide the breakdown by Rejection Category.
Can I dispute rejection reasons or request payment for Rejected recordings?
All Rejections are final and cannot be disputed. These recordings will not be eligible for payment. Our Service Desk team is unable to change that decision.
"Missing Application(s)"/Native Language Mismatch: While not promised or guaranteed, Jeenie may decide to re-process these recordings at a later date. Provided they pass our Quality Checks, these recordings will be considered Accepted at that time. Recordings will be paid at the then-current base rate. Current base rates may not match the rate offered when the recording took place.
What are the Rejection Categories?
See below for a detailed breakdown on each Rejection Category
Duration Too Short:
All recordings must be between 5-15 minutes in duration. The recording(s) submitted were under the minimum accepted duration.
Many recordings in this category are caused when you or your partner experience connection issues within the first few minutes of the recording.
Tip: Some recordings may be Accepted if the duration is close to 5 minutes and passed our Quality Standards.
Failed QA:
The recording did not pass the minimum Quality Standards or Project Guidelines. The most common reasons are:
-
- Poor audio quality
- Echo or feedback
- Background noise
- Unstable internet connection (lag, dropouts, poor audio)
- Reading off a script
- Inappropriate language or topics
- Using pre-recorded content
Mismatched participants/Unregistered Speaker in Recording:
The voices in the recording(s) did not match previous submissions linked to the same email addresses. This often happens when recording links are shared and used by different people.
Example: Six recordings were submitted using ABC@123.com and XZY@123.com
-
- Three recordings have a female using ABC@123.com and a male using XZY@123.com.
- These are Participant 1 and Participant 2
- Three recordings have Participant 1 using ABC@123.com and a new female using XZY@123.com
- These are Participant 1 and Participant 3
- Three recordings have a female using ABC@123.com and a male using XZY@123.com.
Remember: Each participant must complete their own application and use their unique recording link—links cannot be shared. To make it easier to verify who’s speaking, we recommend turning cameras on during recordings whenever possible.
Native Language Mismatch
The language used in the recording did not match the self-reported language listed in one or both participants’ applications. This project requires that both participants be native speakers of the same language. If a recording is made in a language that was not listed on all participants’ applications, the submission will be rejected and not eligible for payment.
The most common reasons are:
- The language selected on the Conversation Link Generator Form did not match one or more of the self-reported languages on the application.
- Participants switched to another language or dialect during the conversation.
- Participants recorded in a language that is not currently supported or featured for this project.
Missing Application(s):
One (or more) of the partcipants in the recording(s) did not have a completed application on file. The most common reasons for this:
-
- Recording partner never started the application
- Recording partner started the application but did not finish
- Email address(es) entered incorrectly on the Link Generator form
Tip: If your recording(s) was rejected because the application process wasn't completed, Jeenie highly recommends you still complete it. See above for more details on why.
Participant Count:
The number of participants in your recording did not match what was expected based on the audio channels in your submission. This is determined by the number of audio channels created during recording, not by how many people may be heard speaking.
Example: If you select a 2-person conversation, each participant receives their own link, which generates a separate audio channel when recording. We expect two (2) audio files per submission; one for you and one for your partner. If you share links or record on the same device, only one audio channel is created, and your submission will be rejected.
The most common reasons are:
-
- Recording using the same device
- Only one person is speaking
- Sharing links/Recording using the same link
- More people in the recording than expected (ex: a two-person link was generated and there are 3 people speaking in the recording)
No exceptions will be made if the submission does not have the correct number of participants/audio channels.
Paused Language:
The submission was for a language that Jeenie was no longer accepting submissions for. Please refer to our Paused Languages FAQ for more details.

My past recordings were accepted, but now new ones are being rejected. I didn’t change anything. Why is this happening?
It's important to note that the project requirements have not changed since launch. As we continue to optimize our QA (Quality Assurance) process, we’re becoming more efficient at reviewing submissions. This means we can process payments faster, and also identify issues more accurately than before. While the standards remain the same, the QA process is now more thorough, which may result in some recordings being flagged that might have passed earlier in the project.
